Temp Housing

After a week of quarantine in a tiny hotel room, we had to spend 3-6 weeks in temp housing. For us, that simply meant a “nicer hotel room.” We initially were NOT looking forward to more hotels, but this ended up being a great experience. It was more like a short-term luxury apartment. Can’t argue with luxury….

In our case, the temp housing situation lasted longer than most, because it took us a long time to find an apartment. Nike set us up with a total of 90 days in temp housing (this includes time in the U.S. before you move plus time in Taiwan once you arrive). In the U.S. before we left, we camped out at my in-laws for a month, which was paradise for the kids. That saved up as much temp housing time as possible for apartment hunting in Taiwan, which we needed!

The Huan

These pics should give you a good idea of our temp house setup – The Huan Serviced Residences. Full-suite bedroom for Jill and me, and a two bed room for the kids. Giant common-area living space with couches, coffee tables, and kitchen area. We essentially had a really nice apartment, but in a hotel. Rooftop pool, restaurant, and “home.”

We’re Gonna Be Foodies

We also quickly adopted one of our favorite pastimes – finding some new favorite cafes and restaurants! I’m sure some of these will fast become staples! Fried pastries with Oreos in them, waffle sandwiches, Dore (French cafe), Mh (everything was good!), and Pizza Rock.

Starting School While Still in Temp Housing

We haven’t found an apartment yet, but the kids start school. They attend Wagor International School of Excellence (WISE), and we think they are adorable in their uniforms.
